David R. Ibarra is the Chief Visionary Officer of eLeaderTech®, guiding the company's purpose of building people and profit together. He sets the vision, defines the leadership theme, and ensures every system, program, and platform is designed to develop talent that performs with discipline and consistency.
David's leadership philosophy was shaped through lived experience—from humble beginnings in a working-class family, to entering the workforce as a dishwasher at age eighteen, and later becoming the youngest franchise owner of Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour, a division of the Marriott Corporation. His career spans hospitality, automotive retail, software development, and leadership consulting, giving him firsthand insight into how people grow, teams perform, and cultures succeed.
These experiences led David to build a family of companies focused on leadership development, performance improvement, and education, including eLeaderTech®, Ibarra Business Group, the Beyond Think and Grow Rich Institute, and Yes! Our Kids Can®. He is the author of Stop Drifting — Become the Switch Master of Your Own Thought® and Lĭve Ready® — Beyond Think and Grow Rich, and the creator of the patented performance management system Executing the Standards®.
David is deeply committed to giving back. Through the Ibarra Foundation, established in 2004, he provides scholarships to students and adults who—like him—faced limited opportunity and needed someone to believe in them. These scholarships vary in amount and are designed to help recipients take meaningful steps forward through education and personal development.
In recognition of his leadership, service, and philanthropic work, David received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Salt Lake Community College. In 2023, he was also knighted into the Royal Order of Constantine the Great and Saint Helen, receiving the title Sir David R. Ibarra.
David has served in numerous civic and leadership roles, including a presidential appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors, and participation on boards supporting workforce development, aviation, and economic growth. For more than 30 years, he has practiced "Time Tithing"—weekly mentoring sessions for individuals seeking guidance in work, leadership, and life.
At the core of David's work is a simple belief: when leaders develop people with purpose and discipline, profit follows—and legacies are built.
"You have to give before you get."
